With another period of high temperatures forecast later this week, alongside the current Bluetongue situation, including the significant outbreak in the South West affecting sheep, FABRA have shared the attached briefing:

The recent heatwaves have demonstrated the pressures that increased livestock mortality and rapidly deteriorating fallen stock can place on the rendering sector, and the wider implications for animal welfare, biosecurity and the continuity of food production.

The briefing explains these issues and the role renderers play in ensuring fallen stock can be removed promptly and affected farms returned to production.
