NFSCo appoints new Welsh Director
25th July 2016
Following the retirement of its board director for Wales, Eifion Evans, NFSCo is delighted to announce the appointment of Huw Davies as his replacement.
Huw and his wife Sheila farm 560 breeding ewes on a tenanted National Trust farm on the Dolaucothi Estate in West Wales. The lambs are finished and market collectively with the six other tenants.
He is an experienced farmer and representative of the sector, having been involved in several Welsh Government initiatives, as well as being on the NFU Cymru Livestock Board and on the main NFU Livestock Board in Stoneleigh. He also runs a facilitation service with clients in the public and commercial sector.
Animal health and welfare has always been of interest to him, and in 2010 he studied for a Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust study in Farm Animal Welfare, travelling to Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, Uruguary and Brazil. He has also been a member of the Farm Animal Welfare Council.
"We are delighted to welcome Huw to the board," says NFSCo Chairman Michael Seals. "He has great energy, knowledge and communication skills which NFSCo will find invaluable."
