NFSCo survey shows horse owners welcome euthanasia and disposal advice
A survey by NFSCo has shown that horse owners would welcome more advice on the options open to them when it comes to dealing with the death or euthanasia of their horse or pony.
The survey, completed by more than 800 owners, was carried out in early 2013 and asked them about their experiences when it came to disposing of a horse which had died or been put to sleep. It also asked what plans owners have in place if they need to deal with the death of a horse in the future.
NFSCo collectors can play an important role in this process, helping horse owners understand the professional and sympathetic service they can offer at a difficult and distressing time.
Horse owners can join NFSCo free of charge at the time their animal dies, or they may wish to join in advance to save having to go through the procedure for registering for the Scheme at what may be a distressing time.
